The present invention relates to compositions comprising reagents which bind to the novel protein TWEAK and to the use of TWEAK binding reagents to block the development of immunologic disorders. Immunological disorders are manifested as a wide variety of diseases and pathologies, including autoimmune diseases, and a need exists for additional agents for treatment of these disorders. TWEAK binding reagents of the invention include monoclonal antibodies, soluble TWEAK-receptor-Ig fusion proteins, or other molecules which modify the binding of TWEAK to its receptor(s).
