According to one embodiment, a decoloring apparatus includes: a heating rotating member having roughness (Rz) of a surface, which comes into contact with a conveyed sheet, equal to or larger than 3.5 mum and equal to or smaller than 6.0 mum and configured to heat and decolor a decolorable colorant on the sheet; and a pressing member configured to come into press contact with the heating rotating member to form a nip section between the pressing member and the heating rotating member and cooperate with the heating rotating member to nip and convey the sheet.
