PURPOSE: A fuel leak diagnosis system and a method thereof are provided to prevent a leak diagnosis error, which is generated by fuel level variation caused by vehicle sway, by verifying a leak error diagnosis value based on the fuel level variation which is additionally monitored when a leak is diagnosed. CONSTITUTION: A fuel leak diagnosis system includes a leak diagnosis unit (100) and a sway sensing unit (200). The leak diagnosis unit performs leak monitoring depending on satisfactory completion of preset leak diagnosis conditions of a vehicle, and calculates the leak size of a fuel tank. The sway sensing unit monitors fuel level variation corresponding to the performance of leak monitoring, and adjusts at least one diagnosis counter value which is designated to correspond to the fuel level variation based on the result of the monitored level variation. The leak diagnosis unit confirms the diagnosis as a leak error of the vehicle in case a diagnosis counter value is less than a predetermined decision value, when the calculated leak size exceeds a predetermined leak error decision value.
