629,187. Permutation locks. ROUTLEDGE, E. J. April 22, 1947, No. 10679. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXVII] Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle is prevented by a permutation lock comprising three numbered rings 4, 5, 6 which, when set correctly, allow a knob 1 to be withdrawn to close a switch 18, 19 in the ignition circuit, to open a valve in the petrol pipe through a rod 23, and to free a flange 27 on the operating rod 26 of the startermotor switch. A base plate 7 carries a boss 7A into which a bearing sleeve 3 is screwed and locked by a grub screw 17 threaded into both members. Dogs 16 on a rod 2 carrying the knob 1 pass through a slot in, the sleeve 3, and are in line with grooves in the rings 4, 5, 6 when correctly set. A flange 21 which closes the ignition switch 18, 19 is adjustably mounted on the rod 2. |
