IN THE OPERATION OF A FURNACE, AN OVERALL FUEL MASS FLOW IS APPORTIONED TO AT LEAST TWO GROUPS OF FUEL OUTLET ORIFICES. ACCORDING TO ONE EMBODIMENT, THIS IS IMPLEMENTED BY APPORTIONMENT TO A FIRST GROUP OF BURNERS (231, 232) AND TO A SECOND GROUP OF BURNERS (221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226). THE SECOND BURNER GROUP IS OPERATED, IN A PREFERRED VARIANT, WITH A FUEL-RICHER FUEL-AIR MIXTURE THAN THE FIRST BURNER GROUP. THE APPORTIONMENT OF THE OVERALL MASS FLOW IS CONTROLLED BY MEANS OF A PART MASS FLOW ACTUATOR (130). SET VALUES FOR THE POSITION OF THE ACTUATOR ARE STORED AS A FUNCTION OF A POWER CHARACTERISTIC (P') IN A FUNCTION BLOCK (12). A PRESSURE OSCILLATION MEASUREMENT POINT (13) DETERMINES COMBUSTION PRESSURE OSCILLATIONS IN THE COMBUSTION SPACE (2). AN EVALUATION UNIT FORMS AT LEAST ONE PRESSURE OSCILLATION CHARACTERISTIC (P'BK). WHEN THE LATTER OVERSHOOTS A LIMIT VALUE, ACTION IS SUITABLY TAKEN ON THE PART MASS FLOW ACTUATOR IN ORDER TO VARY THE FUEL APPORTIONMENT TO THE BURNER GROUPS IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE PRESSURE OSCILLATION CHARACTERISTIC FALLS. IN PARTICULAR, WHEN A LIMIT VALUE OF A PRESSURE OSCILLATION CHARACTERISTIC WHICH IS FORMED FROM THE AMPLITUDES OF LOW-FREQUENCY PRESSURE OSCILLATIONS IS OVERSHOT, THE FUEL SUPPLY TO THE FIRST BURNER GROUP (231, 232) IS THROTTLED, WHILE THE OVERALL MASS FLOW REMAINS THE SAME. |
