The invention relates to the art of instrumentation, and more particularly to mass spectrometry, and can be used in bioorganic chemistry for the identification and quantitative analysis of various substances and mixtures thereof. The present high-resolution, high-sensitivity multiple reflection time-of-flight mass analyzer comprises an ion source, an ion detector and an analyzer, wherein the analyzer is in the form of an electrostatic transaxial catadioptric system, the electrodes of which are comprised of pairs of parallel plates, said plates being separated by annular gaps and being equidistant from a common plane of symmetry, and the outer electrode is split into two half-rings. The advantages of the proposed multiple reflection time-of-flight mass analyzer are: 1. a simple and compact design; 2. the presence of the additional function of forming and focusing an ion beam before and after reflection by a mirror, thus increasing the overall sensitivity of the time-of-flight mass analyzer. |
