PURPOSE: A self-diagnostic apparatus for an electric device and a method thereof are provided to perform monitoring during operation of a load and at a mass production line and also during after-service. CONSTITUTION: A self-diagnostic apparatus (106) of an electric device includes a current measurement unit (112) and a control unit (110). The current measurement unit measures current amount supplied to a load during operation of the load. The control unit measures power consumption during the operation of the load on the ground of the current amount measured through the current sensor. The control unit calculates the amount of power consumption change by comparing the power consumption during the operation of the load with rated power consumption of the load. If the amount of power consumption change deviates from the pre-established range, the control unit judges generation of abnormal power in the load.
