A mode change unit of an air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to connect many indoor units easily without additional parts or costs. A mode change unit(202) of an air conditioner includes a display unit(212) and a control unit(214). The display unit(212) displays name of at least one of branch(A~F) and an address of an indoor unit connected to the corresponding branch. The control unit selects at least one of branch name displayed at the display unit, sets or modifies the indoor unit address corresponding to the selected branch name. A user or a manager easily detects a connection state of an indoor unit according to each branch through display information represented at the display unit. |
