PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner reduced in noise and effecting sterilization in a short time.SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner has a vacuum cleaner body housing an electric fan 31. The vacuum cleaner has an air passage communicating with the suction side of the electric fan 31. The vacuum cleaner has an ultraviolet lamp 67 for applying ultraviolet rays for sterilizing the inside of the air passage. The vacuum cleaner has a control unit 42 provided at the vacuum cleaner body and controlling the operation of the electric fan 31 and ultraviolet lamp 67. The vacuum cleaner has a setting button 22 operated to set the turning on/off of the drive of the electric fan 31. The control device 42 operates the ultraviolet lamp 67 for a first predetermined period from a timing when the turning off of the electric fan 31 is set by the setting button 22 while the electric fan 31 is operated.
