PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal light valve operable with low voltage.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal light valve 200 comprises: a first substrate 201 where a first polymer layer 2011 is formed thereon; a second substrate 202 where a second polymer layer 2023 is formed thereon, where the first polymer layer is opposite to the second polymer layer; and a liquid crystal material layer 203 filled between the first polymer layer and the second polymer layer, where the first polymer layer and the second polymer layer have a roughened surface disposed between the first polymer layer and the liquid crystal material layer or between the second polymer layer and the liquid crystal material layer.
