PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrically heated catalyst device, in which directions of cracks generating in a surface electrode are controlled and spread of electrical currents in a carrier axial direction is retained.SOLUTION: The electrically heated catalyst device includes a carrier 20 comprising a ceramic material with a catalyst carried thereon, a pair of surface electrodes 31 opposing to each other on an outer circumferential surface of the carrier and extending in an axial direction of the carrier, and wiring lines 32 supplying power from the outside to the surface electrodes, and electrically heats the carrier via the surface electrodes. Grooves 31a for controlling developing directions of cracks generating in the surface electrodes are formed on the surfaces of the surface electrodes 31. |
