PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing unnecessary consumption of toner and ink and providing an image formation result that is easy for a user to see, even when only a partial area of image data has density that exceeds reference density.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 is an apparatus that performs image formation on a recording sheet on the basis of image data. The image forming apparatus 1 comprises: an area density detection unit 11e that divides image data into a plurality of areas and detects density of an image for every area; and an image processing unit 11b that compares density with a reference value for every area and changes the image data so as to decrease density of the image in the area whose density exceeds the reference value. |
