PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which is compact and inexpensive while being capable of reading a comparatively long double-sided original.SOLUTION: The image reader comprises a paper-feeding stacker 21 for placing thereon a document OP to feed; a conveyance path which causes the document from the stacker 21 to pass through a read position 55 while conveying the document; a circulation path 13 which returns the document to a joint position 15 with the conveyance path between a U-shaped inverting path 12 and the read position 55; and control means which, if the length of the document along the conveyance direction is longer than the length from the read position 55 to the joint position 15 via the inverting path 12 and the circulation path 13, causes the tip of the document to wait at the circulation path 13 before reaching the conveyance path 11. |
