The present invention relates to a fixing composition for cytology that comprises an alcohol and toluidine-blue base, preferably mucosal cells, such as oral-cavity cells and exocervical and endocervical cells. The present invention further describes a fixing method for cytology and the use of this composition and this method in medicine, particularly in the detection of neoplasias, preferably cancers of the cervix and oral cavity.
