PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sophisticated menu without re-rendering the whole screen as a menu and dynamically adding or removing a button to and from the screen.SOLUTION: In a method for generating an onscreen menu comprising menu buttons (BG81, ..., BG86') and other menu items (e.g. a help text), one group or a plurality of groups of the menu buttons or the menu items are defined, the group comprises one or more menu buttons or menu items, and the group is associated with a defined area on a screen. An "enabled" (operable) state or a "disabled" (non-operable) state is assigned to the button. Only the enabled button can be displayed, and one button or item within the group may be enabled. The state of the button can be changed by commands associated with other buttons. |
