SEPARATION METHOD OF 2-BUTANOL FROM TERT-BUTANOL/WATER MIXTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation method of 2-butanol from a tert-butanol/water mixture generated when tert-butanol (TBA) produced from an industrial C-hydrocarbon mixture is decomposed into isobutene and water.SOLUTION: The separation method of 2-butanol (SBA) from a tert-butanol(TBA)/water mixture comprises: adjusting concentration of water in the TBA/water mixture, the concentration of water before adjustment being present near limit concentration of a distillation limitation line connecting two azeotropes of TBA/water and SBA/water, to concentration of water higher than the limit concentration; then changing pressure to allow the concentration of water to be lower than the limitation concentration of a distillation limitation line connecting two azeotropes of TBA/water and SBA/water; and continuously post-treating the mixture by distillation.
