PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for searching a stopover facility in a stop-over range based on a start point and a destination point.SOLUTION: The method for searching a stopover facility in a target area includes: specifying a start point and a destination point; variably setting an expansion degree of the target area in a direction substantially perpendicular to a straight line that connects the start point with the destination point, on the basis of a difference between information associated with the start point and information associated with the destination point; and setting the target area on the basis of the start point, the destination point and the expansion degree.
