PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device and an image reader capable of restraining a dimension in the height direction of the whole device from becoming high due to a projection though the projection is formed on a stacking surface.SOLUTION: Regulating parts 57 are projected in places of becoming the upper end side of the stacking surface of a movable stacking part 51 when rotating the movable stacking part 51 to an opening position. The regulating parts 57 regulate a document from being further sent out in the send-out direction by abutting on the tip in the send-out direction of the document when the document is sent to the stacking surface of the movable stacking part 51 from a document ejecting port 40B. Recessed parts 58 are formed on the upper surface side of a cover 47. When the movable stacking part 51 is rotated to a closing position, since the regulating parts 57 enter the recessed parts 58, a dimension in the height direction of the whole device does not become high due to the regulating parts 57 though the regulating parts 57 are protrusively formed. |
