A method for facilitating a transaction using a wireless network, comprising: receiving a transaction request at a transaction management system for a user selected transaction, said transaction request being received from an Internet-enabled wireless telephone (308) of the user; in response to the received transaction request, generating an optically scannable transaction code at the transaction management system; communicating the optically scannable transaction code to the wireless telephone (308), the optically scannable transaction code being displayed on a visual display (308d) of the wireless telephone (308), the displayed optically scannable transaction code being scanned by a transaction fulfillment system for authorising fulfillment of the user selected transaction in response to the optically scannable transaction code being optically scanned; and verifying fulfillment of the transaction.
