PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that prevents a registration process from being carelessly exit due to a shutter button operation during a subject registration operation and otherwise that immediately transitions to an imaging stand-by state.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: authentication means for identifying whether a subject detected from an image captured is a registered subject or not; acquisition means (S1211) for acquiring the image of the subject to be registered in a temporary storage medium in response to an instruction accepted in a registration stand-by state (S1201) in preparation for capturing and acquiring the image of the subject to be registered; registration means (S1223) for registering feature data extracted from the subject image acquired by the acquisition means in a non-volatile memory; and control means (S1227) for controlling the apparatus to transition to a registration standby state (S1215) when shutter operation means is operated after the acquisition at the acquisition means and before the registration at the registration means, and to transition to an imaging stand-by state when the shutter operation means is operated after registering the feature data by the registration means. |
