METHOD FOR CONNECTING COATED OPTICAL FIBER TO OPTICAL FIBER HOLDING MEMBER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OPTICAL MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for connecting coated optical fibers and an optical fiber holding member capable of highly efficiently performing work for converting pitches of the coated optical fibers separated into single-core fibers.SOLUTION: The ends of respective coated optical fibers 22 are cut such that the lengths to the end faces of the separated coated optical fibers 22 are sequentially shortened in the parallel direction for every single fiber. Then, the coated optical fibers are inserted in guide holes 513 provided in a jig 50 one by one in order from a coated optical fiber with a long length to the end face to convert the pitches of the ends of the coated optical fibers 22. The ends of the plurality of coated optical fibers 22 the pitches of which have been converted are inserted and fixed in through-holes 422 of an optical fiber holding member 42. This configuration prevents the plurality of coated optical fibers 22 from entering an entrance of one guide hole 513 so as to highly efficiently perform the work for converting the pitches of the coated optical fibers 22 that have been separated into single cores.
