PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing and drying machine capable of detecting an overload state of an induction motor and properly controlling driving and stopping operations even when the induction motor of constant speed is used as a driving motor of a heat pump device.SOLUTION: The drum type washing and drying machine includes: an induction motor 52 of constant speed for driving a compressor 51 of a heat pump device 5; a blow section 6 for blowing air heated by the heat pump device 5 to the inside of a washing tub 3; a current detection section 102 for detecting current of the induction motor 52; a pulsation detection section for detecting pulsation current in which a current change for each fixed time of the current detection section 102 becomes amplitude of a constant value width or more; a prediction section 103 for predicting a current value after the lapse of a fixed time when the pulsation detection section determines the pulsation current; and a driving section 101 for stopping the operation of the induction motor from the predicted current value of the prediction section 103. The driving section 101 is configured to stop the operation of the induction motor 52 when the prediction section 103 predicts the pulsation current value exceeding a limit value.
