A broadcasting receiver, and a processing method and a signaling structure for an emergency alert message are provided to enable a host to generate an OCAP(Open Cable Application Platform) emergency alert message including received emergency alert message contents if the emergency alert message is received, and transmit the OCAP emergency alert message to an OCAP application, thereby preventing the abnormal operation of the OCAP application which may be generated while the host processes the emergency alert message. A method for receiving and processing an emergency alert message in a broadcasting receiver based on a data broadcasting application platform comprises the following steps of: enabling a host receiving the emergency alert message to generate a platform-based emergency alert message including information about a received emergency alert message and a currently watching channel and transmit the generated emergency alert message to a data broadcasting application; and enabling the data broadcasting application receiving the platform-based emergency alert message to execute the emergency alert message according to the contents of the transmitted platform-based emergency alert message(501~508). |
