PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a rare earth magnet using hot plastic processing, the method capable of producing a rare earth magnet with high degree of orientation, by obtaining enough plastic deformation while preventing the generation of cracks on the sides of a compact to be plastic deformed in the hot plastic processing.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a production method of a rare earth magnet, comprising: a first step of pressure molding powder B that is a rare earth magnet material, and producing a compact S with the upper, the lower and the side surfaces; and a second step of disposing a frame material C on the side surfaces of the compact S, the frame material C having relatively higher ductility than the compact S, to form a unit body U with covered side surfaces, punching the unit body U with an upper and a lower punches P and P, and performing hot plastic processing that adds anisotropy while directly pressing the upper and the lower surfaces of the compact S with the upper and the lower punches P and P so as to produce a rare earth magnet, that is to say an orientation magnet S'. |
