PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing apamin as an active ingredient for preventing and treating liver diseases is provided to identify the action mechanism of apamin in epithelial-mesenchymal transition of liver cells and to effectively prevent and treat liver diseases. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating liver diseases contains 0.5-2 micrograms/ml of apamin as an active ingredient. Apamin is isolated from honeybee venom. The pharmaceutical composition additionally contains one or more among pharmaceutically acceptable carriers or excipients. The excipients are selected among a lubricant, a wetting agent, a flavoring agent, an emulsifier, a suspension, and a preservative.
