PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can visually hide and make inconspicuous defects on a printed image even when one nozzle of an inkjet nozzle array is defective.SOLUTION: A printer includes an array of elements which arranges arrays of dots on a printing object, and a means which moves the printing object relatively to the array of elements in a nearly perpendicular direction to the arrays of dots. The printer has (a) a means for determining whether or not one, or two or more of the elements are correctly operated, and (b) a control means configured so as to analyze an image to be printed, identify the time when dots of ink are to be printed by activating a faulty element, and shift the dot position in the image to be printed so that the dots are printed by activation of one of elements on both sides of the faulty element. The control means can be operated so as to activate the adjacent element with a frequency that is higher than those of other elements. |
