An ocular drug delivery system comprises an ophthalmic speculum and an ultrasonic generator. The ophthalmic speculum comes in close contact with the eye and contains a solution to be administered to the eye, comprising a pharmaceutical active agent and microbubbles. The ultrasonic generator delivers the pharmaceutical active agent through the eye by applying ultrasonic waves to the solution contained in the ophthalmic speculum.
