PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To trim down a grip part even with a comparatively thick grip member in a mechanical pencil with a rotary drive mechanism for rotating a writing lead gradually by receiving writing pressure.SOLUTION: The mechanical pencil includes a rotator 6 constituted movably in the direction of rotation and in the direction of the axis in a barrel 1 together with a chuck 4 for holding the writing lead L, wherein the rotator 6 constitutes a part of the rotary drive mechanism that gradually rotates the writing lead L by receiving the writing pressure. In front of the barrel 1, a grip member 11 is provided in a manner surrounding the barrel, while the rotator 6 constituting the rotary drive mechanism is arranged in the barrel in the rear from the mounting position of the grip member. The inner diameter of the barrel 1 in a part equipped with the grip member 11 is formed thinner than the inner diameter of the barrel in a part where the rotator 6 is arranged, which makes the grip part be trimmed down even if a comparatively thick grip member is used. |
