Glass shaped body, preferably glass rod (1) comprises a material (3) triggering a light effect disposed between the glass shaped bodies and a glass covering layer (2). An independent claim is also included for producing a glass shaped body, preferably a glass rod exhibiting light effects, comprising (a) heating a glass gob (5) at 450-550[deg] C, (b) applying the material on the surface of the glass gob, which triggers small-scale light effects, where the material is melted and remains adhered, (c) heating the glass gob at 500-1000[deg] C, (d) cooling at 400-500[deg] C, (e) introducing the glass gob in a bath containing liquid glass for 0.5-5 seconds, coating a glass coating layer on the resulting glass gob, and (f) drawing the glass gob into a rod, and pressing or molding into a mold.
