Functional layer of a covering for a building and building covering with a functional layer

The method involves providing rafter fields (14) between rafters (12) and a shuttering (11) of a building shell (2), where the shuttering is provided inside of a building. A functional layer of the building shell is applied to an external side (15) of the shuttering in regions by painting and/or spraying, where the functional layer forms an air and/or watertight foil (10), which is designed as a vapor barrier. The air and/or watertight foil and a spring foil are overlapped with each other. An independent claim is also included for a building shell comprising a functional layer.
