PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a method thereof for selecting an AP (Access Point) are provided to calculate the reliability of a plurality of APs and to inform a user that it is most likely to be an attacker as the calculated reliability of the AP is low. CONSTITUTION: A reliability calculating unit (140) analyzes packets received by a communication unit (130). The reliability calculating unit calculates reliability. The reliability calculating unit analyzes packets received from first to third APs. The reliability calculating unit calculates reliability of each AP.
