PURPOSE: Back light unit and liquid crystal display device usingthe same improve the guide structure of the diffusing plate or the light guide plate and supporting structure. In that way the assembling efficiency of the diffusing plate or the light guide plate and stability is heightened. CONSTITUTION: A light source fixing unit [light source fixing portion] has multiple light source [light sources]s (40). It is fixed to side of the inside of the bottom cover [bottom cover] (90a). The diffusing plate [diffusing plate] (70) receives the light of each light source to the light incident face of the side of the diffusing plate. The progressive direction of light is diversified to the front side. Multiple diffusing plate supporting part [diffusing plate support portions]s (41) include the buffer member [buffering member] for the absorption of the impact. It is fixed to side of at least one inside of the bottom cover. The diffusing plate is guided with the support.
