PURPOSE: A water purifier and a method for washing the same are provided to efficiently perform a storage tank washing operation by automatically performing washing and sterilizing operations of a storage tank through a storage tank washing unit. CONSTITUTION: A water purifier (100) comprises a water storage tank (120) and a storage tank washing unit (130). The storage tank washing unit successively supplies first and second electrolyzed ionic water into the storage tank. The second ionic water starts to wash the storage tank after the first ionic water finishes washing the storage tank.
