<p>A floor tool 2 for a vacuum cleaning appliance comprises a main body 4 , connected to a conduit 6 (outlet 30a) and having a supporting member 8 adopted to support a cleaning element and a suction nozzle 10, 12 adjacent an edge of the supporting member 8. The suction nozzle 10, 12 define a suction chamber that includes first and second fluid outlets 24, 26 in communication with the conduit. Also disclosed is an arrangement characterised by the inclusion of suction nozzle that includes a surface engaging skirt defined by the outer periphery of a suction chamber. The skirt has a substantially linearly edged first portion along its length 14, 16 and a second portion which opposes the first portion and has at least one opening along its length. The skirt may be flexible, comprising a plurality of bristles and filaments, as well as regularly spaced castellations. Suction chamber may also comprise a dividing wall, essentially providing two chambers. Other shown elements include neck portion 28b, rear of conduit 30, front of conduit 28, supper surface 22 and air manifold 20.</p> |
