A lock assembly includes a mandrel 12 having at least one window 20 therein. At least one dog 16, 18 corresponds to the at least one window 20 and is radially extendable therethrough. The at least one dog 16, 18 is operatively arranged for engaging at least one feature 24, 26 of a tubular 14 radially disposed with the mandrel 12. At least one seal element 32 is arranged for sealing the mandrel 12 with respect to the tubular 14 and operatively positioned with respect to the at least one dog 16, 18 for maintaining the mandrel 12 solely in compression against the at least one dog 16, 18 during fluid pressure loading on the mandrel in either longitudinal direction with respect to the lock assembly.
