Method for producing fine particles

Preparing fine particles (P) in a pulsating hot gas flow, comprises introducing a raw material mixture into the pulsating hot gas flow through a burner flame of a burner (2) with periodical pressure oscillation with variably adjustable pressure amplitudes and oscillation frequency; and separating the particles from a combustion chamber (1) downstream filter system (precipitating device (4)) of the hot gas flow. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for operating a thermal reactor for the manufacture of the particles in a pulsating hot gas flow comprising the above process; and (2) the particle obtained by the above process, in which the particle exhibits an average particle size of 5-100 nm, an organically bounded carbon amount of 0.2-1% and elementary carbon content of less than 0.1%.
