PURPOSE: A machine tool having an onboard measuring device is provided to previously divide an operational area of a driving shaft to a processing area, a cleaning area, and a measuring area, to automatically start a work allocated to each area when the driving shaft enters each area, and to continuously perform the same work until the driving shaft leaves the area. CONSTITUTION: A machine tool having an onboard measuring device comprises a position detector, an input unit, a work determining unit, and an onboard measuring device (1). The position detector detects the position of a driving shaft. The input unit inputs the position detected by the position detector to a numerical control device. According to the position of the driving shaft, it is determined whether or not a process with respect to a processing object is performed, whether or not a process to measure the processing object by the onboard measuring device is performed, whether or not a process to clean the processing object is performed, or whether or not a process to clean a probe is performed. The onboard measuring device has an implementation ordering unit which orders the implementation to process the processing object, to measure the processing object by the onboard measuring device, to clean the processing object, or to clean the probe based on the determination of the work determining unit.
