PURPOSE: An emotion generation device for a robot and a method thereof are provided to generate an emotion of the robot with a group of emotion values in various emotion value groups including a basic emotion, thereby generating a complex emotion on which various basic emotions are reflected. CONSTITUTION: An emotion value group generation unit(110) generates emotion value groups having emotion values on an emotion coordinate system of a robot. The further the group of emotion values is from the coordinates of a basic emotion assigned to the robot, the smaller the emotion values in the group are. An emotion generation unit(130) generates a group of emotion values in the emotion value groups corresponding to coordinates of an emotion state input value as a robot emotion. The emotion value group is generated based on the emotion state input value. The basic emotion has the same basic emotions. The emotion value group generation unit forms one emotion value group by combining the emotion value group of the same basic emotions.
