FIELD: information technology.SUBSTANCE: disclosed are methods, systems and computer storage media having computer-executable instructions implemented thereon that, when executed, carry out methods in accordance with versions of the invention for managing component programs within a service application according to a service model. Initially, configuration settings, which can be applied to the component programmes, are extracted from the service model. An implementation process is initiated to manage the service application in accordance with changes to a level of load on the service application and/or to specifications within the service model. The implementation process includes steps of deploying, or identifying as available, the component programmes within the data processing centre, and automatically propagating formalised values derived from the configuration settings throughout the deployed component programmes.
