A support (6) for a chip module (1) for a portable data storage medium (10) holds, on a first side (7), an integrated circuit (5) and a coil-shaped antenna (4) and, on an opposite second side (8), metal contact areas (2) for contactless and contact-based data and/or power transfer between an external appliance and the integrated circuit (5). The turns of the antenna (4) are routed around the integrated circuit (5) and are arranged in a region of the first side (7) which is completely or at least predominantly opposite a region (3) of the second side (8) which is free of contact areas. The region (3) which is free of contact areas contains an identification (9), which may have characters, symbols, codes or logos. The identification (9) is preferably formed by a coating and/or elevations which are flush with the surface of the contact areas (2). |
