792,143. Batteries. AKTIEBOLAGET TUDOR. March 22, 1956 [March 26, 1955], No. 9024/56. Class 53. In an accumulator cell, e.g. of the lead-acid type, a perforated foil of insulating material which is bent to form ridges 4 is interposed between the flexible sheet of fibrous material adjacent each positive plate and the rigid sheet of microporous material adjacent each negative plate, the greatest width of the ridges 4 being less than the width of the plane parts 7 between the ridges and the plane parts 7 abutting the fibrous material. The foil may be polyvinyl chloride, the fibrous material may be glass wool and the microporous material may be microporous rubber. The ridges may be of the shape shown or may be V-shaped or trapezoidal in section or may broaden outwardly in section. The angle between the edge of each ridge and the plane part should be more than 45 degrees and preferably 75-90 degrees. A further separating layer may be inserted between the microporous sheet and the negative plate. |
