PURPOSE: A drive device for an electric bicycle is provided to change a bicycle into an electric bicycle by installing a drive unit having a motor, a battery, a controller, and a sensor on the left crank arm or right crank arm of the bicycle. CONSTITUTION: A drive device for an electric bicycle comprises a fixing plate (10), a drive gear, a reaction gear (25), and a power transfer unit. The fixing plate is installed on the side of a crank shaft (14) of a bicycle, and pedals (42,43), a battery (50), a sensor, a motor controller, and a motor (20) are installed thereon. The drive gear transfers power through a reduction unit. The reaction gear is coupled to a crank shaft housing. The power transfer unit transfers driving force and pedal force to the wheels of the bicycle. |
