629,870. Bedsettees ; cabinet beds. HIRST, E. G. Dec. 23, 1947, No. 34098. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1946. [Class 52 (ii)] A bed frame is adapted to be folded into a cabinet which is in the form of a chesterfield and may be so used when the bed is folded away. The cabinet has an open front and has rigid panels 4 which may be shaped and used as arm rests. A bed frame comprising side panels 10 and connectors 11, 12 is pivotally supported at 14 on arms 9 pivoted on lugs 8 in the base of the cabinet. The rear end of the frame is provided with rollers 16 engaging in fixed guide ways 6 in the cabinet the guide ways being so formed as to bring the bed frame into a horizontal position when the bed frame is swung outwards of the cabinet. The bed frame in use is therefore supported by the top ends of the guideways 6, the arms 9 and by blocks 17 carried by the panels 4. The ends of the arms 9 are linked to hinged panels 18 so that when the bedframe is swung into the cabinet these panels are folded down on to the bedding to secure it. When in use as a bed the panels 18 form head and foot boards. Beneath the bed frame is a back 22 to which is hinged a seat board 24 with a hinged flap 25 linked to the back by links 26.
