PURPOSE: A power factor compensation control device for a power supply and a method thereof are provided to maximize the power factor by flexibly changing the value of reactance depending on the amount of input current. CONSTITUTION: A current measurement unit (60) regularly measures input current to a reactor. A memory unit (70) stores the values of reactance by input current. A setting unit (80) loads the value of reactance appropriate for the amount of input current, which is measured by the current measurement unit, and sets the value as a reactance value of the reactor. A control unit (90) controls the operation of a PFC circuit using the reactance value set by the setting unit and the amount of input current measured by the current measurement unit.
