PURPOSE: An iris detection device and a method thereof are provided to improve accuracy by considering errors according to the size of iris based on a user. CONSTITUTION: An iris image generation unit (110) generates the iris image of a user through a first camera. A face image generation unit (120) generates the face image of the user through a second camera. A photographing distance calculation unit (130) calculates a photographing distance according to the size of iris by detecting the size of the iris from the face image. A searching area detection unit (140) detects an iris searching area. An iris detection unit (150) generates iris information by detecting the iris from the iris searching area.
