PURPOSE: An apparatus for updating data of a microwave oven using power line communication (PLC) and a method thereof are provided to automatically update cooking data of the microwave oven through PLC, thereby improving user convenience. CONSTITUTION: A PLC module (3) performs a PLC with a home server (1) when power is on. A micom (5) sends a request for data update of a microwave oven to the home server though the PLC, receives update data from the home server through the PLC, and performs data update of the microwave oven. A power line filter (2) is placed between a power source plug and the PLC module, and filters channel noises generated in data transaction between the PLC module and the home server.
