<p>The present invention relates to (1) a process for producing a water-soluble polyuronic acid salt having a good biodegradability which process includes the step of oxidizing a low-crystalline powdery cellulose having a crystallinity of 30% or less; (2) a polymer builder having a good biodegradability and an excellent detergency for mud stains and including a polyuronic acid salt having a weight-average molecular weight of from 6,000 to 180,000 which is obtained by oxidizing a polysaccharide; and (3) a detergent composition including the polymer builder.</p> |
