The thermoforming packaging machine (1) has a forming station (9) for generating packaging trays (11) in a lower film (4), and a filling device (15) for filling the packaging trays with products (16), where a lateral clamp chain (2) is provided. The filling device is arranged at a transition region (12) for conveying the packaging trays from a transport plane (8) to another transport plane (13). An independent claim is also included for a method for filling packaging trays with products.
