<p>The network has highly-available backbones, and lines of local functional units, where ends of lines are interconnected to a ring over the backbones. A location-independent central computer sends data packets over ports, where the data pockets are received at the functional units. The central computer aligns the redundant pockets at the functional units over the ports, and a gateway is aligned between the backbones and the lines, where the data pockets comprise network addresses and sequence numbers. An independent claim is also included for a method for time-deterministic communication in a hierarchically-designed network.</p> |
