PURPOSE: A coil state detecting method and an electromagnetic motor protection relay using the same are provided to prevent the burning of a system. CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic contactor (200) determines whether or not power is supplied to a relay. The electromagnetic contactor operates a motor (40) by supplying three-phase current to the motor when the motor is a normal state, and stops the motor by stopping the supply of the three-phase current when the motor is an abnormal state. A coil detection terminal (210) detects conduction by sending micro ampere to a coil arranged inside the electromagnetic contactor and transmits the detected results to a determination part (220). The determination part determines whether or not the coil is the abnormal state based on the detected results and transmits the determined results to a control part (230) when the coil is the abnormal state.
